Team

Oxford Trees for the Future was founded in August 2019. Emily & Maddy met at an Oxfordshire Friends of the Earth meeting, where they learnt about the vast quantity of land owned by the University and colleges (across the city & country). They realised that as students at the University, they were in a unique position to demand change. The society is now a year old and we are really excited to have Oscar joining our team as we continue to engage with these huge land owners. We are always looking for more people to join us, send us an email if you are interested!

President  - Maddy Wyburd

Hello, I am a second year DPhil student studying biomedical engineering. Although my studies have little in common with our society, I have always been passionate about the environment and wanted to have a positive effect on the current crises.

Treasurer - Oscar Hartman Davies

Hi, I’m Oscar. I’m a Geography DPhil student and help to run a small UK wilding organisation called Youngwilders. Despite lacking many specific skills I’m enthusiastic and enjoy being outside. I know that we can turn growing engagement with nature across the UK and in the student body at Oxford into concrete and positive climate and biodiversity outcomes, which is why I’m so excited to join this campaign.

Secretary - Emily Warner

Hello, I’m a final year DPhil student in Plant Sciences, studying the restoration of native forest in the Scottish Highlands. I love my research area, but really want to do more to push for action on the climate & biodiversity crises, which is why Maddy & I began the Oxford Trees for the Future campaign!

Media & Communications - Issey Gladston

I'm Issey, I'm doing an MSc in Nature, Society and Environmental Governance and I'm researching how we can use new digital media and activism online to tackle the climate crisis.
